Casino Jobs NEws at Indiana Live Casino

by Emma 15. December 2008 22:23

Casino News released today stated that Indiana Live Casino is gearing up for a series of job fairs in January and February to fill these positions as it prepares to open its massive, 233,000-square-foot permanent facility adjacent to the Indiana Downs horse racing track in early 2009.

Since opening in its temporary 70,000-square-foot facility in June, Indiana Live Casino has employed more than 420 full- and part-time workers. Once the permanent facility opens, featuring even more casino floor space and dining and entertainment destinations including Maker's Mark Steakhouse, NASCAR Sports Grille, Live Market and two bars, the $195 million casino will employ more than 750 people. Altogether, the annual payroll at Indiana Live Casino, including salaries, wages and benefits, is estimated at more than $19 million a year once the permanent casino opens

"We are excited to hire for these positions as we ramp up plans to open a new Indiana Live Casino and excited about our ability to contribute positively to the state's overall economy."

Already, Indiana Live Casino is having an impact on the Indiana economy. Since opening in June, the casino has paid nearly $20.2 million in wagering taxes to the state of Indiana. The casino is projected to generate more than $74 million in taxes during its first year of operation on gaming revenues and purse contributions, excluding income and wage, sales, property and business taxes, of which nearly $45 million will go directly to the state's Property Tax Reduction Trust Fund to benefit all Hoosier residents and an estimated $5 million will be administered to Shelby County cities and towns. Just 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, Indiana Live Casino features more than 1,900 high-tech slot machines and electronic table games and an eatery catered by renowned chef Wolfgang Puck. Indiana Live Casino is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week year round.

Aussie Millions Schedule at Crown Casino

by Emma 4. December 2008 01:09

Once again, the attention of the tournament poker community will begin the new year focused on the Crown Casino in Melbourne as the 2009 Aussie Millions is just around the corner.

There are 18 championship events on tap, preceded by a batch of pre-championship events beginning on Sunday, January 4th. Event #1, $1,100 AUD buy-in $500,000 AUD guarantee NLHE, will kick off the first of two Day 1 flights on Friday, January 9th. The series will wrap on Monday, January 26th.

The Aussie Millions continues to offer one of the more unique tournament schedules in the world, and this year is no exception. In addition to the $10,500 AUD buy-in Main Event, the Crown will again be hosting the $100,000 No Limit Holdem Challenge, which was taken down by Howard Lederer last year. Other notable events on the schedule include a $1,650 NLHE Bounty event, a $3,250 PLO w/Rebuys event, a $1,050 NLHE event to be played on PokerPro automated tables and a $2,200 NLHE team event.

The Aussie Millions Main Event has become one of the more popular live poker events on every poker player's schedule. Last year, Alex Kostritsyn of Russia topped Erik Seidel heads-up for the title and $1.65 AUD. Seeing how the main event has increased every year since 2004, the Crown is banking on a bigger field than the 780 that showed up in this year. They're backing that up by promising a $2 million first-place prize.

Here's a look at the schedule (all amounts AUD):
